Prostate Cancer Research Under Attack
Please call, tweet using hashtag #ResearchNotRedTape, and write your senators to support the Durbin Amendment to save all cancer research funding at the Department of Defense.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will be debated in the U.S. Senate next week, attempts to eliminate the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) at the DOD. The CDMRP, which includes the Prostate Cancer Research Program, funds brilliant breakthroughs in research for many diseases – including three new treatments for advanced prostate cancer in the last five years.
U.S. Senator John McCain, a long-standing opponent of the CDMRP, has authored the NDAA bill but an amendment offered by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin DOD will stop proposed red tape and potentially insurmountable barriers for researchers to get the resources they need to find a cure not only for prostate cancer but for nearly 30 other diseases such as breast cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Please support PCaAware in this effort and make a contribution today to help us in this important mission. Every dollar you send to us counts and can make a difference. Its time to end the silence that surrounds prostate cancer – be one of the men who speaks up.
